So it has been a good few months since LG surprised us all with their innovations in the Lg G2.
The exemplary battery life, OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation) Camera and the Snapdragon 800 processor were few of the things that made Lg’s 2013 flagship standout. One year has passed and now we have the successor to the G2, the G3, has arrived to take the market by storm.
Enticed by the elder brother but still stuck with the G2? Fear not for we are here to help with a step by step article on how to magically transform your LG G2 into a G3.
So let’s get cracking, shall we?
But before we begin a few warning words. Rooting an Android phone voids it’s warranty. We here at www.androidrooting.com take no responsibility for your device if it is anyhow damaged in the process described below.
A few more words of advice, if you are new to rooting, follow from Step 1 otherwise if you are rooted and have a cuustom recovery installed follow from step 4.
Boot into recovery mode.
To do this:
- Switch off device
- Press and hold the power and volume down button together
- When the LG boot animation shows up release for just a second and again hold on
- You’ll be greeted with the factory data reset screen.
- Do not fear, if you have a custom recovery installed you’ll not have your data deleted
- press the power button 3 times
Now that you have successfully booted into TWRP, the first thing you should do is take a backup.
Also take a separate backup of your EFS folder, it may come in handy in a pinch later on.
Do this only if you are conning from a custom AOSP or AOKP ROM. If you are coming from stock Kitkat you can skip this step
Install the baseband of your model. This is very important since AOSP on the G2 uses a hacked JB kernel to run benath kitkat so you must flash the baseband or else you’lll run into bootloops.
Do a clean wipe of data and cache
Flash the downloaded zip using TWRP.
It will take you into a menu where from you can choose which version of the G2 you have. Choose your version and let the Aroma File Manager work it’s magic
Do a wipe of data cache and dalvik cache again and reboot into system.
Run through setup and enjoy your revamped G2, now a snazzy new G3!!
