The LG G Pro was LG’s first attempt at making a phablet device to compete with Samsung’s Note series. However despite packing some impressive hardware under it’s belt, it was held back by some poor software. Next year, LG followed it up with the G Pro 2. However with rumors rife that the Pro line may be gone for good, the chances of the original G Pro receiving a Lollipop update officially from LG are next to none. Do not fear however as we have the good developers at XDA to help us out. CyanogenMod 12 is here to bring you the taste of Lollipop. So join us after the break!
- Your LG G Pro must have root access. You can find it in this article.
- You must have a custom recovery installed, like latest TWRP or CWM. The later part of this should help you out with that.
- Your tablet should be charged over 80%.
- Some common sense and ability to follow instructions!!
With that done, let’s get this show on the road.
Boot into recovery mode. Switch off the device Press and hold the power and volume down button together When the LG boot animation shows up release for just a second and again hold on You’ll be greeted with the factory data reset screen. Do not fear, if you have a custom recovery installed you’ll not have your data deleted Press the power button 3 times
Backup your current ROM from your custom recovery.
Do a complete wipe, data and cache.(includes Dalvik Cache)
Navigate to your SD Card and select the ROM zip file. Flash the ROM. (For your convenience we advise that you keep the zip file at the root of your SD card)
If you’re so inclined, flash the GAPPs package by navigating to the SD card and choosing the GAPPs zip.
Reboot. The first boot will take longer than others so don’t worry.
Root : From CM 12 root permissions can be enable by going into settings>developer settings.
And with that you’re done! Congratulations on having the latest and greatest in Android right here on your G Pro. Keep in mind though that this is beta software and as such may have the occasional bugs here and there. Also I would suggest you to download and install the latest nightlies. however remember to make a backup from your recovery so you’ve something to fall back on just in case
