The Nexus 9 is HTC’s first foray into the tablet industry after quite a while. From the initial response, the Nexus 9 has been quite a hit as far as developers and Nexus fanbois are concerned. With this being the first x64 enabled tablet on the market, the Nexus 9 had some early issues with root and ROM compatibility. However with all of that now gone, kernels and ROMs have been flooding through at XDA and we are committed as ever to bring the best of the lot right to you. So we begin the first of the coverage of the Nexus 9 with CM 12 for it.
- You must have your device unlocked and rooted.
- You must have a custom recovery installed, like latest TWRP or CWM. To help you with all of that the Nexus Toolkit might come in handy.
- Your tablet should be charged over 80%.
- Some common sense and ability to follow instructions!!
With that done, let’s get this show on the road.
Boot into recovery mode. To do so, power off your tablet. Press and hold Volume Down and Power, all at the same time. Release the buttons only when the Fastboot / Bootloader Mode menu appears. Use one of the Volume buttons to change the START text to Recovery Mode. When Recovery Mode option is listed in the above part of the Fastboot Mode menu you can press Power. The custom TWRP / CWM Recovery menu should now appear.
Backup your current ROM from your custom recovery.
Do a complete wipe, data and cache.(includes Dalvik Cache)
Navigate to your SD Card and select the ROM zip file. Flash the ROM. (For your convenience we advise that you keep the zip file at the root of your SD card)
If you’re so inclined, flash the GAPPs package by navigating to the SD card and choosing the GAPPs zip.
Reboot. The first boot will take longer than others so don’t worry.
Root : From CM 12 root permissions can be enable by going into settings>developer settings.
- Is this ROM LTE-supported yet
No, unfortunately it isn’t.
- Where do I get themes??
This is a custom ROM so bugs and features may appear in further nightly builds. if you’re the sort to dirty flash updates of nightlies, then please remember to take a backup before you do so. Questions or comments? Leave them in the comment box below.
